Best reconciliation software for credit unions in 2026 compared by workload and price

best reconciliation software for credit unions

For a small credit union replacing spreadsheets, shortlist ReconArt and BankAutomation for daily settlement matching. For a credit union on Symitar or another core seeking a quick start, BankAutomation, our product, reads exported reports, but go live depends on proving the mappings and controls. For a large credit union with a close program, BlackLine or FloQast fit ERP accounting, while Trintech Frontier and Accurate deserve comparison for transaction matching and certification. For published pricing, choose BankAutomation as the budgeting baseline; FIS Data Integrity Manager belongs on an enterprise shortlist when scale and SWIFT matching justify a quoted platform.

This guide is for a CFO, controller or accounting manager holding a quote or renewal. It uses published positioning and the source material behind our existing guides, rather than a comparative product test. Asset size helps frame the decision, but accounts, sources and approval requirements should decide it.

How we picked the shortlist

We prioritized evidence an NCUA examiner, supervisory committee or external auditor can inspect. A completed reconciliation should retain source balances, dated reconciling items, supporting documents and separate preparer and reviewer records. An audit trail should show which rule matched an item and who approved a change. Maker-checker must separate proposing an adjustment from approving it.

Core fit means proving actual exports, not accepting a core logo on a slide. Bring Fed and corporate CU statements, ACH returns, share draft inclearing, ATM and card settlement, Zelle activity and loan clearing GL detail. Require explicit treatment of net fees, late postings and settlement dates. Our credit union reconciliation software page describes that account inventory and the evidence it produces.

Where each product earns its place

Shortlist the workload you need to improve. A daily matching engine and a month end close platform can be complementary purchases.

ReconArt

Best for a credit union wanting broad reconciliation modules with published credit union references. ReconArt case material describes MIDFLORIDA moving Federal Reserve, ACH and ATM work off Excel, and Catalyst Corporate FCU reconciling Fed, ACH and RTP accounts. Watch out for comparing a directory starting price with a complete quote. Seats, edition and implementation scope still need confirmation. The ReconArt alternatives guide maps the replacement choices by workload.

Trintech Frontier and Accurate

Best for an established matching estate or a renewal where preserving rules and certification history matters. Frontier combines automated reconciliation, workflow and account certification; Accurate focuses on high volume matching. Watch out for treating these as interchangeable products or assuming the Fiserv name defines current ownership. Ask which components, hosting and migration services the proposal includes. Our Frontier Reconciliation software guide separates those components.

BlackLine

Best for a larger credit union whose controller needs ERP centric account substantiation and close oversight. It deserves a place when certification across the balance sheet is the project. Watch out for treating the Vendr median as a settlement matching quote. Modules, entities and transaction matching scope can change the proposal, and the benchmark includes buyers outside credit unions.

FloQast

Best for an accounting team organizing the close around its ERP, review tasks and account reconciliations. It is a sensible comparison when month end coordination drives the purchase. Watch out for assuming close management proves daily Fed, corporate CU or processor settlement. Require a demonstration on those files and identify any separate matching scope in the quote.

FIS Data Integrity Manager

Best for an enterprise estate needing the former IntelliMatch platform and SWIFT accredited matching. It merits evaluation when reconciliation complexity extends beyond ordinary credit union settlement accounts. Watch out for buying enterprise scope for a narrow spreadsheet replacement. Request the deployment, implementation responsibilities and ongoing rule maintenance in writing, with acceptance based on your own difficult files.

BankAutomation

Best for daily breaks across Fed, corporate CU, ACH, card, ATM and GL accounts when the team wants published prices. It reads report files without installing software on the core. Watch out for the Operations limit of three sources and its lack of maker-checker approvals. Platform adds those approvals and SSO. We are a newer vendor, and BlackLine or FloQast fit a full close program better.

Which option fits your credit union size

Use these bands as planning scenarios, not measured workload averages. A smaller institution with many processors may need more sources than a larger institution with simpler settlement.

Asset bandTypical reconciliation loadSensible option
$250 million to below $1 billion Corporate CU account, ACH, share drafts, ATM and debit settlement ReconArt or BankAutomation; Operations only if the selected scope fits its source and control limits
$1 billion to $10 billion Fed or corporate settlement, multiple processors, Zelle, loan GLs and broader review responsibilities ReconArt, Frontier or BankAutomation Platform for daily matching; BlackLine or FloQast when close management drives the project

Editorial planning scenarios for the buyer range covered here. No asset threshold determines a required product.

On Symitar, begin with GL and activity exports and prove the external settlement side independently. The Jack Henry reconciliation software guide distinguishes core reports from back office reconciliation. On the loan side, loan underwriting software supports loan file review upstream; reconciliation proves the loan clearing GL and explains payments or disbursements that have not cleared.

What it costs over three years

The table holds current rates constant. Monthly plans use 36 payments; annual plans use three annual bills. These are subscription calculations, excluding implementation, internal work, taxes, price changes and additional scope. The reconciliation software pricing guide explains quote drivers.

Price basisCalculationThree year amount
ReconArt Capterra starting listing $300 per user per month multiplied by 36 $10,800 per user, not a complete institution quote
ReconArt stated annual average Below $50,000 multiplied by 3 Below $150,000 on that average basis, not a cap on any quote
BlackLine Vendr median $40,125 multiplied by 3 $120,375 benchmark extrapolation, not an offer
BankAutomation Operations $1,200 multiplied by 36, or $7,200 annually multiplied by 3 $43,200 monthly billing or $21,600 annual billing
BankAutomation Platform $3,900 multiplied by 36, or $23,400 annually multiplied by 3 $140,400 monthly billing or $70,200 annual billing
BankAutomation Institution $9,500 multiplied by 36, or $57,000 annually multiplied by 3 $342,000 monthly billing or $171,000 annual billing
BankAutomation Enterprise $14,900 multiplied by 36, or $89,400 annually multiplied by 3 $536,400 monthly billing or $268,200 annual billing

Frontier, Accurate, FloQast and FIS need scoped quotes for this comparison. Check our pricing page for limits and billing terms. A renewal decision should also include rebuilding rules, exporting history and running both products until the new evidence agrees with the old process.

Questions to ask on a demo

  1. 01Can our accounting manager load a core export and settlement report, change a mapping and show the approved rule version?
  2. 02Can you demonstrate ACH returns, share draft rejects, card fees and a missing Fed or corporate CU posting without hiding the break in a tolerance?
  3. 03Can a preparer approve their own adjustment, and can we export the reviewer identity, dates, support and item aging?
  4. 04Can Zelle activity and FedNow cycle dates remain distinct while feeding the same exception queue?
  5. 05What exactly counts as a source, item, user or module, and what happens at renewal or when we export our history?

Questions credit union buyers ask

What is the best reconciliation software for credit unions?

ReconArt and BankAutomation are sensible starting points for daily credit union settlement. Frontier deserves evaluation for established matching and certification estates. BlackLine and FloQast fit a broader accounting close, while FIS fits enterprise complexity. Choose against your actual files, approval evidence and total quoted scope rather than an overall ranking.

How much does reconciliation software cost for a credit union?

BankAutomation Operations is $1,200 a month or $7,200 a year billed annually; Platform is $3,900 a month or $23,400 annually. ReconArt states average annual cost below $50,000, and Capterra lists from $300 per user per month. Other shortlisted vendors quote scope, so include implementation and renewal terms before comparing.

Does Jack Henry Symitar include account reconciliation?

Symitar is a core serving over 700 credit unions, per Jack Henry's fiscal 2026 Form 10-K. Jack Henry's Account Reconciliation Reporting is a treasury management feature for business customers, not a back office GL reconciliation tool. So a Symitar credit union typically needs a separate reconciliation product to prove its own settlement accounts.

Can a credit union reconcile Zelle and FedNow in the same tool?

Yes, provided the tool keeps their evidence and settlement logic distinct. Zelle reconciliation software ties activity to core postings and ACH or RTP settlement. FedNow needs its own cycle date and Fed account evidence. Evaluate instant payments reconciliation software using weekend files, late postings and separate clearing GLs before accepting a combined queue.
