Modern Treasury pricing and fees in 2026, with platform, per payment and minimum commitment costs

modern treasury pricing

Modern Treasury does not publish a fixed price list. Its pricing page describes four parts, Platform Access, Payment Usage, Accounts and Compliance, and Ledgers, all counted toward one annual minimum commitment. A price strip the company tested on that page in September 2026 showed a platform fee from $2,000 a month on annual terms, ACH from $0.25 a payment, RTP and FedNow from 1% plus $0.60, and stablecoin orchestration from 0.30%. Budget at least $24,000 a year before a single payment moves.

Disclosure: BankAutomation sells reconciliation software to US banks, credit unions and sponsor banks. We do not sell payments, so we compete with Modern Treasury only where a buyer wants reconciliation and nothing else. Every figure below names its source, and the cases where Modern Treasury is the better buy are stated plainly.

What Modern Treasury charges for

The pricing page lists four components and says pricing depends on volume, the rails you use and your account structure. Per unit costs fall as volume rises, and annual terms are standard.

ComponentWhat it coversHow it is billed
Platform Access One API for payments, accounts and ledgering, the dashboard, infrastructure and dedicated support Recurring platform fee; the tested price strip showed from $2,000 a month on annual terms
Payment Usage ACH, wires, RTP and FedNow, push to card, checks and stablecoins Per payment, varies by rail; tested strip showed ACH from $0.25 and RTP or FedNow from 1% plus $0.60
Accounts and Compliance KYB and KYC, transaction monitoring and regulated payment accounts through partners Not published
Ledgers Double entry ledger with account hierarchies Usage tiers that scale with volume, not published

From moderntreasury.com/pricing, checked October 2026. Rates are the starting figures recorded by Audit Friendly from the price strip on 27 September 2026.

Two lines on the page shape the total more than any rate. First, all platform and usage fees count toward a single minimum commitment, so you pay the minimum even in a slow month. Second, money moving on and off stablecoin rails pays both the fiat rail fee and a conversion fee. Bank fees for ACH, wires, RTP and FedNow from your partner bank are charged on top of Modern Treasury's platform and usage fees.

Modern Treasury prices reported by third parties

Because the vendor quotes each deal, outside figures disagree. Here is what each source actually says and how much weight it deserves.

Figures as published by each source, checked October 2026. None of them is a Modern Treasury quote.

The directory figures from $400 to $600 a month most likely describe an earlier self-serve plan. Since Modern Treasury launched its integrated payment service in February 2026, the pricing page has been built around platform access plus usage and a minimum commitment, so the $2,000 a month platform fee is the more realistic floor for a new contract.

What a year of Modern Treasury costs, three models

These models use only the published starting rates. Real quotes include volume discounts, so treat them as a ceiling for each scenario, then add your partner bank's fees.

ScenarioMonthly volumeMonthly cost at starting ratesAnnual
Fintech paying out by ACH 20,000 ACH payments $2,000 platform + $5,000 ACH = $7,000 $84,000
Marketplace paying sellers instantly 3,000 RTP or FedNow payouts averaging $500 $2,000 platform + 3,000 x $5.60 = $18,800 $225,600
Company or bank that only wants reconciliation Few or no payments through Modern Treasury $2,000 platform fee toward the minimum At least $24,000

Swipe the table sideways to read every column.

Our arithmetic from the starting rates above. An RTP or FedNow fee of 1% plus $0.60 on a $500 payment is $5.60.

The second row is the one to check carefully. A percentage fee on instant payments grows with payment size, and the starting rate shows no cap. On a $50,000 FedNow payment, 1% plus $0.60 is $500.60, against a few cents for the same payment on FedACH. If your program sends large instant payments, negotiate a cap or a flat fee per payment before anything else.

Contract terms that change the number

  • Annual minimum commitment. Every fee counts toward it, and unused commitment is still paid. Size it to the volume you are sure of, not the plan.
  • Auto renewal. CostBench reports that contracts renew automatically and cancellation notice is due at least 30 days before the order term ends. Put the date in your calendar on signing day.
  • Renewal at then-current rates. Audit Friendly reads the customer agreement for orders from January 30, 2025 as pricing renewals at current list rates regardless of earlier discounts. Ask for a renewal cap in the order form.
  • Late invoices accrue 1.5% a month under the same agreement.
  • Professional services for bank integration and solution architecture are sold separately and not published.

Usage pricing makes the monthly bill move with your business, which is the point of it and also the risk. Whatever you sign, put usage-priced vendors under real-time spend alerts so a payout spike shows up the week it happens rather than on the invoice.

How to negotiate a Modern Treasury quote

Step 01

Separate the rails

Ask for a written rate per rail at your real volume: ACH, same day ACH, wires, RTP, FedNow, push to card. A blended number hides the instant payment percentage.

Step 02

Cap the percentage fees

For instant payments and stablecoin conversion, ask for a per payment cap or a flat fee above a threshold.

Step 03

Right size the minimum

Commit to the volume you will certainly send in year one and take a ramp for year two, rather than a flat high minimum.

Step 04

Fix the renewal

Write a renewal price cap into the order form, since the agreement otherwise renews at current rates.

Step 05

Price only what you use

If you need reconciliation and not payments, get a quote for that scope and compare it with tools built for it.

Modern Treasury pricing compared with reconciliation tools

Modern Treasury is a payment platform first. A company that only needs to reconcile bank, processor and ledger data is buying a minimum commitment sized for money movement. That is where most of the search for Modern Treasury alternatives comes from, and the price gap is easy to see.

ProductPricingBuilt for
Modern Treasury Platform from $2,000 a month plus per payment usage, annual minimum Fintechs and platforms moving money through partner banks by API
BlackLine Vendr median $40,125 a year across 74 purchases Corporate close and account certification
ReconArt Vendr average about $49,500 a year; Capterra lists from $300 per user a month Credit unions and community banks wanting recs plus close
BankAutomation Published: $1,200, $3,900, $9,500 and $14,900 a month, annual billing at half Banks, credit unions and sponsor banks reconciling ACH, card, Fed, FBO and correspondent accounts daily

Published prices and named benchmarks, checked October 2026.

On annual billing, BankAutomation Operations is $7,200 a year for 250,000 matched items a month and Platform is $23,400 a year for 2,000,000 items with unlimited sources, priced per institution with no per payment fee. It does not originate payments. For a sponsor bank, the daily job is matching partner ledgers to FBO balances and FedACH settlement, which is covered on ACH reconciliation software and transaction matching software, with returns and settled but not posted items on payment exception management software. Card program teams should read Kani Payments alternatives, and payment companies with many processors the Simetrik alternatives comparison. Sixteen platforms are priced side by side in the reconciliation software comparison for banks, and the BlackLine pricing post covers the close side.

When Modern Treasury is worth the price

  • You are a fintech or platform that originates payments across several rails and wants one API, one ledger and one compliance stack.
  • Your engineering team would otherwise build bank connectivity, payment orders and a ledger in house, which Modern Treasury itself estimates at thousands of developer hours.
  • You need stablecoin and fiat payments together, which arrived with the Beam acquisition in 2025 and the payment service launch in 2026.

If none of those describes you, the minimum commitment pays for capability you will not use.

Questions buyers ask

How much does Modern Treasury cost?

Modern Treasury quotes each customer. Its tested price strip showed a platform fee from $2,000 a month on annual terms, plus usage: ACH from $0.25 a payment and RTP or FedNow from 1% plus $0.60. All fees count toward an annual minimum commitment, so expect at least $24,000 a year before payment volume.

Does Modern Treasury have a free plan?

No. CostBench lists no free tier, and the pricing page requires a minimum commitment on annual terms. Some directories still show $400 to $600 a month plans, which appear to describe an earlier self-serve offer rather than current contracts.

What is the Modern Treasury minimum commitment?

The pricing page confirms a minimum spend and says all platform and usage fees apply toward it, but it does not publish the amount. With a platform fee from $2,000 a month, the practical floor is about $24,000 a year. Negotiate the figure against the volume you are certain to send.

How much does Modern Treasury charge per ACH payment?

The rate recorded from the pricing page in September 2026 starts at $0.25 per ACH payment and falls with volume. Your partner bank's own ACH fees are charged separately, so the full cost per payment is the Modern Treasury fee plus the bank fee.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Modern Treasury for reconciliation?

Yes, if reconciliation is all you need. BankAutomation publishes plans from $1,200 a month, or $7,200 a year on annual billing, for 250,000 matched items with no per payment fee. It reconciles ACH, card, Fed, FBO and correspondent accounts but does not move money, so fintechs that need a payment API should stay with a payment platform.

Price reconciliation separately from payments

The resolver at the top of this page runs BankAutomation's matcher on sample USD card settlement data, so you can see how a settlement is grouped to its postings and how breaks are classified. If that is the part of the Modern Treasury quote you actually need, compare it with our pricing page before you sign a minimum.
